Participating agencies fielded teams of 2 to 4 explorers to compete in this exercise.  Each team was dispatched to a series of simulated "calls" in real world locations and responded in a police vehicle.  Some of the calls were graded for competition.

Thanks to the agencies whose explorers and officers participated:                        Adams County Sheriff's Office, Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, Aurora Police Department, Commerce City Police Department, Denver Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Loveland Police Department, Longmont Police Department, and the Parker Police Department.

We hope to publish a list of agencies winning each event soon.

Thanks also to all the volunteers who came out to role-play and to our excellent dispatchers from the Aurora Police Department!

On November 6, 7, and 8, 2009 advisors from all over the state gathered in Estes Park for a conference on administration of explorer posts.  Topics included Post Organization, Recruiting, Retention, Program Planning, Fundraising, Ethics Training, Team Building, Mentoring and more.

LEEPAAC strives to host an advisor leadership conference every third year.

Explorers from Denver, Aurora, Loveland, Boulder and Commerce City assisted the Denver Police Department in training officers to respond to an active shooter at Cherry Creek Mall on October 18, 2009.  The explorers played the roles of victims and bystanders for the early morning exercise.

This was a social event for explorers and a fundraiser for the Aurora Police Explorer Program.  Explorers camped for the weekend, playing a variety of paintball games and challenges.

The Denver Police Explorers held a Patrol Simulation for explorers to raise funds for Eloy Garduno, the father of Denver Police Explorer Rueban Garduno.  Eloy suffered a torn ACL from a fall during an explorer training event.  Thanks to the many explorers, friends, family and officers who contributed to and participated in this event, we were able to raise more than $500.00 to help the Garduno family.

The number one lesson of the day?

                         LOOK UP!

Lieutenant Kevin Heaton of the Araphoe County Sheriff's Office plunged into the icy cold water of Chatfield Reservour on Saturday, November 15, 2008 as part of the Polar Plunge fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Colorado.  L.E.E.P.A.A.C. is proud to have helped sponsor Kevin's plunge and helped to raise funds for the Special Olympics of Colorado.

Because we are so proud of Kevin, and because he looks so good in his plunging outfit, we wanted to share a few pictures of the event.  Enjoy.
